About this role
We are seeking an experienced Person in Charge to lead a children's residential service with clarity, compassion, and robust governance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for service quality, regulatory readiness, staff leadership, safeguarding oversight, and the day-to-day delivery of safe child-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the operational management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance of the residential service.
- Ensure care planning, safeguarding, risk management, and incident response are effective and well documented.
- Recruit, supervise, develop, and support team members to deliver consistent high-quality care.
- Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and external review processes.
- Build constructive relationships with children, families, social workers, regulators, and partner agencies.
What we're looking for
- Relevant professional qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience in children's residential care, social care management, or regulated care services.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish safeguarding, children in care, and residential care regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership, governance, report writing, supervision, and risk management capability.
- Ability to hold accountability while creating a stable, supportive culture for staff and young people.
Desirable experience
- Previous Person in Charge, centre manager, deputy manager, or registered manager experience.
- Management qualification or active progression toward one.
- Experience with HIQA inspection preparation, compliance planning, and service improvement.
