About this role

Elkanna is seeking Social Care Practitioners to provide day-to-day therapeutic care for children and young people in our residential services.

This role suits professionals who can combine warmth, boundaries, practical support, and strong safeguarding practice in a child-centred environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct care, routine, and emotional support to children and young people in line with individual care plans.
  • Promote safety, stability, dignity, and positive relationships throughout daily residential life.
  • Maintain accurate records, handovers, incident reports, and care documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, schools, and external professionals.
  • Apply trauma-informed, rights-based, and safeguarding-led practice in every interaction.

What we're looking for

  • Relevant qualification in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Youth and Community Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting children, young people, families, or vulnerable groups.
  • Strong communication, professional boundaries, and reflective practice.
  • Willingness to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers where required.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland and complete required safeguarding and vetting checks.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in residential care, disability support, child protection, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • CORU registration or active progression toward registration where applicable.
